Word level work: Spelling conventions and rules

  • Its and it's
    Word Level Objective 10: distinguish between the two forms: its (possessive no apostrophe) and it's (contracted 'it is') and to use these accurately in their own writing.

Sentence level work: Sentence construction and punctuation

  • Types of sentence
    Sentence Level Objective 3: understand how the grammar of a sentence alters when the sentence type is altered. (Preliminary work - identifying sentence types)

  • Changing statements into questions
    Sentence Level Objective 3: understand how the grammar of a sentence alters when the sentence type is altered, when, e.g. a statement is made into a question,... noting, e.g.: the order of words; verb tenses; additions and/or deletions of words; changes to punctuation; order and build up ideas.

  • Positive and negative sentences
    Sentence Level Objective 3: understand how the grammar of a sentence alters when the sentence type is altered, when, e.g. ... a positive statement is made negative, noting, e.g.: the order of words; verb tenses; additions and/or deletions of words; changes to punctuation; order and build up ideas.
