Suffixes

Word level:Spelling conventions and rules
Objective 5: to investigate what happens to words ending in ‘f’ when suffixes are added

Most words ending in f change to ves in the plural.
To make words ending in ff plural, add s.
To make words ending in fe plural, use ves.
Sometimes a ves ending shows that a a word has changed from noun to verb, e.g. belief – believes; grief – grieves; proof – proves.
