Using Apostrophes – Single Nouns

By the end of this activity you will be able to: Use an apostrophe correctly for singular nouns.

The new coat which belongs to Sarah can also be written as Sarah’s new coat.

Putting ‘s after a noun (remember a noun is the name of a person, place or thing) tells you that someone or something owns whatever comes next. Sarah owns the new coat. It belongs to her.
